Top tea rooms in New York City

New York has some of the broadest selections of tea rooms in the world yet sometimes they are difficult to find. Although its easier and cheaper to do it at home but afternoon tea in the city is an experience to people watch or read a book in a relaxed atmosphere. Here are a few of my favourite ones…

SWEETHAUS CUPCAKE

Where: 135 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249

This adorable cupcake shop  with a vintage/retro feel is buried in the streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  The interior reminded me of a French bistro in Paris. The Sweethaus offers a selection of different types of tea and the most delicious cupcakes.

BOSIE TEA PARLOR

Where: 10 Morton St, New York, NY 10014

I would describe Bosie as more of a tea room and bakery than a tea shop.  The warm service and attention to detail is definitely worth the visit. They time each pot’s steeping individually and warm up chilled pastries on the counter before bringing them to you table.

ALICE’s TEACUPS

Where: 102 W 73rd St, New York, NY 10023

Step into Alice’s World and be greeted with colourful embroidery and elegant wooden chairs . There are three of them based around New York. There is nothing simple about Alice’s scones and tea with two different menus (which makes it harder to decide what to order).
