Bangkok truly is the ‘city that never sleeps.’ The bustling sidewalks overcrowded with food stalls and over-demanding street sellers eager to sell you all that they have, from vintage t-shirts to selfie sticks for only a few baht can seem very overwhelming at first.
But once you immerse yourself in the Thai culture you will begin to understand why it is coined ‘the city of angels.’
I met a lovely Dutch girl called Yasmine on my travels to Koh Lanta and since We were both heading to Bangkok we decided to spend our last night painting the town red. We decided to visit the famous Sky Bar. Famous for the scene in The Hangover 2, this rooftop bar was probably outstanding before it became famous. After all, it is the world’s highest open-air bar.
Be aware that when you ask for a taxi driver or tuk tuk driver to take you to Sky Bar you specify which one as there are several bars with that name in the area. Thais like to make things confusing! Opening times are from 18:00 – 01:00 daily.
Located on the 63rd floor under the huge dome ( featured in the popular film The Hangover) this is the stow stopping favourite rooftop bar. it wasn’t packed and we managed to get a seat on the rooftop. They don’t charge you for entry but its kindof expected that you buy a drink once up there. Be shocked it is pricey! Expect London prices! Make sure you dress in formal wear as it is a posh venue.

Route 66 is hands down one of my favourite nightclubs in the world. The venue has 3 separate rooms. The first room is reserved for live Thai bands, the second room is an RnB club which is generally the busiest. The third room is a house/trance room, but this apparently doesn’t get busy until 2am. Route 66 is busy everyday of the week. Weekdays you would want to get there around 11:30pm-midnight. On a Friday and Saturday around 9-10pm to get a table.
